Tips when travelling through IAD

At Dulles International Airport (IAD), the old "dune buggies" for transferring between terminals have been replaced by an underground people mover.
Leave lots of time for getting to and from Dulles International by cab or bus; the traffic around DC is horrendous. However, in a few years, there should be a connection to the Washington Metro.
There are three major airports in the DC area. Historically, Dulles got most of the cross-country flights bound for DC, because the airport closer to downtown (Reagan National) was off-limits to long flights. The government has lifted these restrictions in a few cases, so if you're flying to a place like San Francisco or Los Angeles, you may be better served flying out of Reagan National Airport (DCA) instead of Dulles.

Tips when travelling through LAS

Like Las Vegas itself, there are slot machines everywhere at McCarran International Airport (LAS). They're an easy way to whittle away a layover—and your savings.
McCarran International is incredibly close the Strip — if you had an hour, you could walk there. Instead, you'll probably end up standing in the horrendous taxi lines, waiting for what feels like an hour.
Although the LAS airport is sprawling, access to most of the domestic terminals are behind security, which means you can find food and drinks in other terminals without re-clearing security.
