Tips when travelling through IAD

At Dulles International Airport (IAD), the old "dune buggies" for transferring between terminals have been replaced by an underground people mover.
Leave lots of time for getting to and from Dulles International by cab or bus; the traffic around DC is horrendous. However, in a few years, there should be a connection to the Washington Metro.
There are three major airports in the DC area. Historically, Dulles got most of the cross-country flights bound for DC, because the airport closer to downtown (Reagan National) was off-limits to long flights. The government has lifted these restrictions in a few cases, so if you're flying to a place like San Francisco or Los Angeles, you may be better served flying out of Reagan National Airport (DCA) instead of Dulles.

Tips when travelling through OGG

At Kahului Airport (OGG) in Hawaii, visit the "fast key" car rental registration kiosks at the East end of the airport drop-off & pick-up area to skip the car rental registration line and increase your time on the beach
If you’re on a red-eye return from Kahului Airport to the US Mainland, remember to buy snacks and souvenirs outside the airport since the airport shops tend to close early
If you have a mid-afternoon arrival at Kahului Airport, get a window seat and grab your camera for aerial photos instead of signing up for a $300+ helicopter island tour
For inter-island flights, you can save time by skipping the USDA baggage inspection required for US Mainland flights
There is no left luggage service at Kahului Airport but, if you have a rental car, you can leave everything in long-term parking for $10 per day right outside the terminal
