San Diego Airport is one of the closest airports in the country to its downtown. It's literally close enough to walk (if you have about an hour to spare, and not much luggage).
One unique feature is the "commuter terminal," which only handles the short flights that go to and from Los Angeles. While the security is generally very quick in the commuter terminal, there's no meaningful food or drink once you clear security.
