Points of Interest
Although there are many glamorous mega-casinos on the Strip, Downtown still draws die-hard gamblers with its loose slots. Once popular among pensioners and devotees of $4.99 prime rib buffets, Downtown has begun to appeal to young partiers and families alike. Almost any casino features towering frozen drinks, go-go dancers and frequent free concerts—everything from local acts to marquee names like Little River Band, Lady Antebellum, and Jefferson Starship. After Fremont Street cleaned up and installed a canopied screen with a dazzling 12.5-million LED display, it began attracting families with a zip line, carnival fare, and Elvis impersonators posing for photos. In 2012, the city opened the Mob Museum, chronicling Las Vegas' colorful history.
