VP Finance | San Francisco, CA

Hipmunk is looking for a Vice President of Finance to join our San Francisco based team. This full-time position will report to the Chief Executive Officer. This is an important cross-functional role that will allow you to work alongside all of Hipmunk's teams including Operations, Commerce, Marketing, and Engineering. The VP Finance will operate and manage Hipmunk's financial accounting systems, maintain fiscal records, create budgetary controls and procedures, and prepare financial and statistical reports for the CEO, team leads, and Board of Directors. In this role you will serve as a key member of the leadership team and serve as a key interface between finance and senior management.

Responsibilities:

FP&A and Strategy:

  • As a true business partner to the CEO and executive team, assess financial performance through revenue forecasting, budgeting, and developing a long term financial strategy for the company.
  • Make frequent presentations to the Board of Directors regarding the company's financial performance and overall business strategy.
  • Act as a thought leader in providing analytical insight and perspective to the executive team with respect to measures such as cash flow and investment strategies.
  • Develop tools and systems (from scratch) to provide critical financial and operational information to the CEO and make recommendations on strategy and operations.
  • Develop and utilize forward – looking, predictive models to provide insight into the organization's revenue operations and business plans.
  • Model existing and new market opportunities.
  • Provide strategic competitive analysis for the CEO.
  • Maintain Hipmunk's capitalization table and manage 409a valuation.
  • Partner on potential fundraising efforts. Represent company in efforts with investment bankers and potential investors.
  • Manage Cash Flow and Working Capital: understand contractual terms and timing of customer payments to ensure the company has transparency into its cash position at all times. Assess cost trends and help the CEO prioritize investments to scale the business.

Accounting:

  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP and mange tax preparation.
  • Presentation and discussion of financials with senior leadership, investors, and board of directors.
  • Coordinate the annual audit and preparation of regulatory reporting
  • Manage and develop accounting staff
  • Manage all accounting operations including payroll, billing, A/R, A/P, GL, cost accounting, and revenue accounting. A/R work includes monthly billing to airlines, hotels, and OTA's.
  • Develop and implement operational and accounting processes and procedures

Operations:

  • Build out the back-office function for Hipmunk including HR, legal, insurance, facilities and leasing
  • Manage relationships with all external advisors such as auditors, bankers, insurance brokers, etc.

Requirements:

  • A strong desire to work for a dynamic and high growth start up.
  • Must have a strong entrepreneurial spirit and interest in building processes from scratch.
  • At least 10 years of experience in strategic and operational finance. Some exposure to accounting is desirable.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills. Must possess the ability to interface and communicate effectively with all levels of management and functional areas of the company.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and appropriately prioritize work. Proven ability to effectively plan, organize, and complete multiple complex activities, priorities, and assignments on a timely basis.
  • Strong analytical skills including advanced knowledge of Excel (Pivot tables, v-lookups, database management) and QuickBooks
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and also good at teamwork.

Engineer | San Francisco, CA

We are looking for well-rounded engineers to join us. We have a close-knit team and unusually challenging work to do! We have beautiful experiences to build, scalability & performance to … um … make, and lots of data to dig through. You could be responsible for developing new features-- frontend or backend (or both!), implementing airline, hotel, and other partners' APIs, or sys-admining. Generally, you should be competent at all things technical and love this stuff.

Data Scientist | San Francisco, CA

We are looking for a great data scientist. This is a highly cross-functional role, touching marketing, product, partnerships, and finance. You will be responsible for finding patterns and trends in our huge data sets. Your insights will influence decisions across all areas of the business.

If you like complexity and have spectacular quantitative skills, this is a job for you. We have a cross-platform product in the world's largest e-commerce category. That means we experience changing customer behavior, seasonality of demand, and multi-device and multi-channel attribution challenges. Your job will be to sift through these variables and find significant results.

Director of Commerce | San Francisco, CA

Hipmunk is looking for a Director of Commerce to join our growing team in San Francisco, California. The Director of Commerce will manage relationships with a variety of partners including airlines, hotels, and OTAs. This position offers a breadth of challenges along with the opportunity to have a measurable impact on our growing business. You will be joining an established team within Hipmunk and will work both independently as well as be mentored by your teammates as necessary. This position offers exposure to multiple teams across the company and requires frequent interaction with the CEO.

Requirements:

Hipmunk is looking for a Director of Customer Acquisition to join our Marketing team. You'll accelerate the company's growth by managing a variety of customer acquisition channels with a focus on driving mobile installs and web bookings. This is a highly visible and strategic role that involves frequent work with the C-level team and collaboration with other departments including product, business development and ads. You will manage the planning, strategy, implementation, and tracking of various online acquisition programs.

Product Manager (All Levels) | San Francisco, CA

We are seeking innovative product managers with a proven track record of building compelling consumer products on web and/or mobile. The position requires a self-starter who enjoys working with cross-functional and collaborative teams, has a strong analytical mind, is a great contributor, and is passionate about consumer experiences and Hipmunk. The individual will be responsible for planning, defining, and executing on a product roadmap for multiple features on Hipmunk's web product and/or mobile apps.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide product direction and improve product strategy to accelerate company growth
  • Use fresh thinking to create new product plans in an established industry
  • Work with Engineering, Design, and Marketing to deliver innovative ideas and specifications
  • Conduct and lead data analysis for product initiatives

Product / Interaction Designer (Intern) | San Francisco, CA

Hipmunk is looking for an Intern to join the Product Design team. We are looking for a talented, highly passionate designer with a strong foundation in visual design as well as a solid understanding of user experience, interaction and product design. You will have the opportunity to design across multiple platforms (desktop, tablet, and mobile) for a company that is continually recognized in the travel industry for their outstanding user experience. This is a paid internship position, with the possibility to be hired for a full-time position at its conclusion. You will be asked to work 28-40 hours per week and the internship will last a minimum of 10 weeks.

Responsibilities:

  • Design exceptionally beautiful product interfaces with a clear focus on usability
  • Understand product requirements as they relate to business goals and create design solutions to solve these
  • Think through extensive user flows and consider all edge cases when developing designs
  • Design well thought-out solutions for usability challenges across platforms (desktop, tablet, and mobile)
  • Clearly communicate reasons behind your designs
  • Collaborate with other designers, developers, and product manager on product concepts and designs
