Los Angeles International Airport: A Gateway to Hollywood

The largest airport located near Hollywood is Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). This huge airport is the world's third busiest airport in the world based on aircraft movements. A whopping nine terminals are used by hundreds of airlines to transport passengers to 69 international and 87 domestic destinations.

Los Angeles is a hub for United Airlines, American Airlines, and Alaskan Airlines. For some economically priced domestic flights to the city, check out flights from Southwest Airlines* Spirit Airlines* and Allegiant Air. International travelers can fly with Qantas, Virgin, and Air New Zealand, all of which offer a selection of flights to many hotspots around the world.

A huge range of ground transportation options are available to quickly take you from arrivals to Downtown Hollywood. For a convenient journey, jump in one of the many cabs waiting outside of the airport, although expect to pay around $50 for the 14 mile journey. Budget conscious travelers can use the scheduled bus services that stop in Hollywood, or pre-book a shared ride van which will drop you off outside your hotel.

Cheap Flights to Hollywood Via Long Beach Airport

You can find some amazing domestic flight bargains by flying into Long Beach Airport, just three miles northeast of downtown Long Beach and 30 miles away from Hollywood. While this airport is a little out of the way, the excellent ground transportation links and cheap flight deals make it a great option when traveling to Hollywood.

Jetblue offers the largest number of flights into the airport, while Delta Connection, US Airways, Alaska Airlines and SkyWest Airlines all have great value flights. Popular domestic routes include Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Oakland, Portland, San Francisco and Phoenix. 

The most affordable way to travel from the airport to Hollywood is to book an approved shuttle bus service in advance. Although you will have to share the ride with other passengers, the journey is convenient and they will drop you off right in front of your hotel. Taxis are abundant and Avis, Budget, Enterprise and Hertz all have car rental offices located in the Ground Airport Transportation building located opposite the main airport terminal.

Alternative Hollywood Airports

Other airport near Hollywood include the Bob Hope Airport, Hawthrone Municipal Aiport, Whiteman Airport, El Monte Iarport and the Compton/Woodley Airport. While these are not as busy as Los Angeles International or Long Beach Airports, you may be able to find some heavily discounted flight deals by traveling into one of these airports.

When to Plan Your Trip to Hollywood

Hollywood is fun to visit all year round, as there is always a selection of events and festivals being held in and around the area. Visitors may find that the summer months can get very busy, particularly during the weekend, so you may wish to travel off peak during AUgust or in the spring.

Public holidays such as Thanskgiving can also lead to an increase in tourists as well as a hike in hotel and flight prices. Try avoid travelling close to these dates for the best flight deals around.
