More About Flights to Minneapolis

Airlines Serving Minneapolis

57 airlines operate out of Minneapolis–Saint Paul International (MSP), as the airport is a hub for Delta, by far the largest American carrier by volume with over 25 million passenger movements each year. The most popular domestic routes are between MSP and Chicago, Atlanta, Denver, and Phoenix.

Navigating Minneapolis–Saint Paul

MSP has two main terminals, Lindbergh and Humphrey, connected by a light rail system whose trains run every ten minutes. Ground transportation is located in the Lindbergh Terminal. Travelers can choose car rental, taxi, Metro Transit light rail, or public bus to get from the airport into the city. The transportation booth is staffed from 6 am to midnight seven days a week.

Best Times to Fly to Minneapolis

There is no bad time to fly to the Twin Cities, although peak season is May through September when warm weather draws outdoor enthusiasts. Vikings fans flock in the fall, as do bratwurst and beer-loving tourists for Oktoberfest at the State Fair campgrounds. In winter, sports fans cheer the Timberwolves and the Wild, and snow enthusiasts ski and snowboard. Spring draws film lovers for the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival, as well as baseball fans for Twins games.

Minneapolis Skywalks

Downtown Minneapolis is perfect to explore on foot even in the coldest weather; over 50 square blocks are connected by covered skywalks. Public transportation by bus or train is cheap and efficient. Look for the free buses taking passengers to and around the Nicollet Mall. The city is bike-friendly with miles of trails and bike lanes and a public bike share system.
