More About Flights to Mississauga

Are you traveling to Mississauga for business or pleasure? Either way, this article will answer questions you may have about flying into the city and give you tips to help you save time and money so that your trip will be smooth and comfortable.

What’s The Nearest Airport and How do I Book a Flight?

As a primary hub into Canada, visitors have a large range of flight options to choose from. Currently there are 183 direct flights from airports all around the world. Internationally, there are numerous options that aren’t limited to flying direct from Germany with Lufthansa, from London with British Airways, Abu Dhabi with Emirates, or Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific.

American visitors have the option of flying in on American, United, Delta, or US Airways from major hubs such as New York, Chicago, Houston, Denver, and San Francisco. From Canada, Air Canada and WestJet cover all major routes, and since they are constantly competing against each other, you can typically find good bargains if you book three to four months in advance.

Try to arrive outside morning and evening rush hours, as the major highways connecting Mississauga and Toronto become extremely congested.

How Many Terminals Are There at Pearson International Airport?

Pearson International Airport has two terminals in total – T1 and T3. Terminal 1 is the newest terminal, handling primarily Air Canada and Star Alliance airlines. All SkyTeam and OneWorld Alliance, WestJet, Air Transat, and other unaffiliated airline operate out of Terminal 3.

There is a train that runs between the terminals and a nearby parking lot. The service is free, however the stations are attached to the parking structures of each terminal, and so you will have to exit the airport to access them.

What Are the Best Airport Hotels in the Area?

The great thing about staying nearby is that you’ll be able to get to and from the airport quickly via free shuttles. On the budget end, Hampton Inn & Suites Toronto Airport is relatively basic, but provides free continental breakfast and easy access to the airport. For more amenities, consider the Homewood Suites by Hilton Toronto-Mississauga, where a full kitchen is standard, and dinner is included on certain nights. ALT Hotel Toronto Airport is one of the best-ranked hotels near the airport and is highly recommended for its service and chic, modern style.

What’s the Best Way to Get To and From Pearson International Airport?

Renting a car is your best bet, as Mississauga is very much a city with great urban sprawl. At the airport, you can rent cars from Avis, Budget, National, Alamo, Dollar Thrifty, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and Hertz. It is highly recommended to reserve beforehand, since they often run low on inventory.

For alternatives, you can also consider hotel shuttles, the local bus, and taxis. Hotels that surround the airport, like Hilton Garden Inn Toronto Airport, will have free shuttles waiting for you just outside arrivals. Make sure you do your research beforehand, and also double-check to see if shuttles are only sent out if you call them upon arrival.

Cabbing to the city center will cost an average of $38 after tips, but if you are looking for a low-cost option and are staying around the Square One Mall or City Hall area, you can take the seven bus. While this will have several stops in between, it will only cost $3.25.

What Amenities Can I Find at Pearson International Airport?

With multiple terminals and gates split between domestic, international, and United States flights, there is quite a range of shopping and dining experiences. With duty free, electronics, books, and jewelry, there’s plenty of opportunity to buy something to bring back home. In terms of dining, choose from fast food like Tim Hortons or sit-down dining like Mill Street Brewery. If you’re looking to get pampered, you can also get a 10-Minute Manicure.

If you're lucky enough to qualify for access, there are Plaza Premium lounges, and for Star Alliance members you can use the Air Canada lounges.

Visitors to Mississauga are able enjoy the great infrastructure, amenities, and accommodations that Toronto Pearson has to offer. As long as you plan your trip sufficiently in advance, all will go smoothly.
