More About Flights to Palm Beach

What Do I Need to Know About Booking Flights to West Palm Beach Airport?

West Palm Beach International Airport arrivals will find a small and easy to navigate airport. Flight selections aren't the largest though. The airport represents 12 airlines with direct flights to only 30 cities. Your flight will most likely involve a layover. The good news is that two of the largest carriers are budget airlines, Southwest and JetBlue, servicing eight cities each! Fly from Boston for as little as $114 each way on JetBlue or from Chicago for as little as $93 each way on Southwest.

Be careful of the seasons when booking flights. Twelve of the 30 destinations are seasonal. If non-stop is a priority to you, be sure to book your flights six months in advance to verify whether the flight is offered as you might need to look at nearby Miami or Fort Lauderdale International Airports.

If you’re flying during the great winter migration of retirees from northern states to the Sunshine State, you will encounter many snow birds. Expect lots of wheel chairs and slower lines through security. Just allow yourself more time and don’t forget to smile and respect your elders.

What’s the Best Way to Get To and From the Airport?

West Palm Beach International Airport rental cars is the most popular form of transportation to and from the airport with a garage conveniently located steps from baggage claim. Taxis are also an easy option but fares can add up depending on your destination. Factor roughly $2.50 a mile. Shuttles are available and are only a good deal when traveling with a group.

West Palm Beach does have a public bus system, Palm Tram, with a stop at the airport. A single day fare card costs $5 and downtown is just a short ride from the airport. Other destinations may require complicated connections.

If your travel plans are to Fort Lauderdale or Miami, unless there is as significant price difference, then you should probably consider flying into one of those two airports. The Tri-Rail will take you to Miami for the affordable rate of only $6.90 but transit time is an hour and a half. Ft Lauderdale will cost $5.65 and take an hour.

Are There Any Hotels Near the Airport?

Visitors to West Palm Beach have a plethora of choices for hotels near the airport. On the budget friendly side is Stay Inn West Palm Beach starting at $110 a night and offering complementary airport shuttle, breakfast, and WiFi. A comparably priced option is the Hilton Palm Beach Airport but breakfast and WiFi cost extra.

Since the ocean is less than four miles away, why not opt for a short cab ride to a hotel where you can dip your toes in the sand? Palm Beach Historic Inn will put you in the heart of the beach district for only $159 a night. You’ll be just a short walk from the ocean!

Can I Grab a Healthy Meal at West Palm Beach Airport?

If you are in Concourse A or B, your healthy options are quite limited. Expect Burger King or Nick’s Tomato Pie. There are a few “to go” places with sandwiches and salads that have been sitting out for who knows how long. In Terminal C there is a Quiznos which makes fresh and healthier options, but Terminal C is through a separate security checkpoint.

Outside of security is a Sam Snead’s Tavern which has some healthy options on the menu if you have the time for a sit-down meal and remember not to go through security. If you’re health conscious, it might be a good idea to eat before you arrive at the airport.

Give West Palm Beach and its neighboring resort towns a try on your next vacation. You’ll be dazzled by the clear blue skies, spectacular year round temperatures, and sand beaches. It’s a chance for you to splurge and enjoy a touch of the rich and famous lifestyle!
