More About Flights to Sedona

Find Summer's Secret Deals

Temperatures aren't the only things that rise during summer in the Southwest. Airfare and hotel rates increase, too, as visitors take advantage of longer days to soak up the scenery. While cheap tickets and hotel deals are easier to find from November to March, there are still deals to be had during the summer months. Make your reservations three weeks or more before your departure date to get the season's best prices.

Affordable Flights to Flagstaff or Phoenix

Sedona's closest major airport is Flagstaff Pulliam Airport, 26 miles north. US Airways is the only commercial airline that services FLG, thanks to regular flights from their hub in Phoenix. Other airlines like American sell flights to FLG, but they're serviced by US Air. Visitors may also choose to fly to and from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, which offers a range of airlines including American, Delta, Southwest, and United, but at 120 miles away, you may opt to trade variety for proximity.

Consider Costs on the Ground

For travelers flying into Flagstaff Pulliam, rental cars are available from several major providers, as is shuttle service from Arizona Shuttle and taxi service from A Friendly Cab, a company based in Flagstaff. Phoenix Sky Harbor has a full range of rental car choices and offers regular Arizona Shuttle and Ace Express Shuttle trips to Sedona, as well as private car service from companies like Sedona Quickrides. But remember to ask about prices to and from PHX, as it's a long trip.

Commune with Nature at Cathedral Rock

The short, steep hike to the 'saddle' between Cathedral Rock's two peaks rewards you with such spectacular views of the surrounding natural landscape; you'll instantly understand why this is one of the most photographed rock formations in Sedona. It's also home to two of the vortexes that draw spiritual tourists from all over the world. To get to Cathedral Rock from town, take AZ-179 South into the village of Oak Creek. Make a right at the roundabout on to Verde Valley School Road, and take it 4.5 miles to the parking lot at the end of the pavement.
