Sunny Isles Beach stands on a barrier island on the Atlantic coast about halfway between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. It features two miles of sand, making it a relaxing and convenient beach destination in South Florida. Its ideal location provides travelers with two large airports to choose from and many hotels, such as the DoubleTree by Hilton Ocean Point Resort & Spa, offer budget accommodations with an ocean view.
Sunny Isles Beach is just 16 miles from the Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport (FLL), one of the busiest airports in the U.S. that provides service to over 23 million passengers a year. Thirty airlines offer 300 departure and 300 arrival flights a day, and nonstop flights go to over 100 U.S. cities. It is also a popular route for budget airlines like Spirit and JetBlue. Though the larger Miami International Airport (MIA) is only 22 miles away from Sunny Isles Beach, the drive is more difficult and can take longer due to heavy traffic.

The drive will take about 30 minutes depending on traffic and will cost around $45 in cab fare. The drive from MIA can be about 45-50 minutes depending on traffic and a cab will cost around $55.
