Amsterdam Arena is the largest stadium throughout the country, with up to 68,000 seats during concerts and 53,502 seats for football games. Construction on the stadium began in 1993, and it took three years to build, with an estimated price tag of 140 million Euros. The AFC Ajax currently play their home games at this arena, and it was also home to the Amsterdam Admirals, an American Football team that stopped playing there in 2007 when the NFL ended the European competition. It has a retractable roof and grass surface. World-famous artists have put on concerts at Amsterdam Arena, including Celine Dion, David Bowie, One Direction, and The Rolling Stones, along with Dutch performers.
