Amsterdam Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky — Opposite the Royal Palace

Largest 5-Star Conference Hotel in Benelux

Amsterdam Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky, a member of the NH Hotel Group, is the largest 5-star conference hotel among the Benelux countries. The twenty-two rooms in the conference center accommodate as many as 1500 people. Included in the hotel is the Winter Garden, a restaurant constructed of cast iron and glass in 1880, which provides a sumptuous breakfast buffet every morning. Grand Café Mathilde, overlooking Dam Square, serves lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner while Restaurant Reflet, a French restaurant with an extensive wine list, serves dinner only.

Among the hotel’s services is a health club with a sauna and spa tub. Bicycle, moped, and scooter rentals are nearby. The hotel offers round-trip airport shuttle service for a surcharge. Limousine or town car services are also available.

Free Wi-Fi in Guest Rooms

Amsterdam Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky offers free Wi-Fi in all guest rooms with a small surcharge for wired high-speed Internet access. The bedrooms are luxurious, offering premium bedding and a specialty "pillow menu" from which guests select their pillow of choice. Other amenities include a coffee and tea maker, minibar, and flat panel television with digital service and movies. Tired guests will appreciate the hotel’s health club, which can arrange in-room massages.

Experience Dam Square — Amsterdam’s Town Center

Dam Square is the town square in the center of Amsterdam, capital city of the Netherlands. Many buildings of historical or commercial significance line the square, among them the Amsterdam Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky. Central Station, the city’s main train station, is only a five-minute walk away. Canal boats for transportation and sightseeing tours depart from piers a few minutes from the hotel and other transportation options for tourists and visitors are readily available.

The Royal Palace, the most imposing building in Dam Square, is one of three palaces in the Netherlands used by the Dutch royal family, though the 17th century palace is primarily used today for official royal receptions. Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky is across Dam Square from the Royal Palace and overlooks The National Monument. This statue in the square commemorates the soldiers and Dutch resistance of World War II.

Hoping to explore the local art and music scene? The 15th century New Church (Nieuwe Kerk), which no longer holds church services, is a venue for organ recitals and art exhibitions in Dam Square.

The Bottom Line

The centrally-located Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky is the best place to stay for those Amsterdam visitors wanting to absorb the atmosphere of Dam Square. The breakfast buffet at the Winter Garden is expensive, but it’s a meal all guests should experience at least once. Afternoon tea in Grand Café Mathilde is another “must have” meal. Meals at the similarly-priced Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel are not nearly as memorable as those at Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky.

Overall, the Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky offers the best rates for unbeatable luxury and is conveniently located near the cultural hub of Amsterdam for a wonderful tourist experience.
