Hotels near Old Fourth Ward
On the east side of downtown Atlanta, GA and probably best known as the birthplace of Martin Luther King Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement, Old Fourth Ward is now establishing itself as a must-visit for food and nightlife, in addition to being home to the Martin Luther King, Jr., National Historic Site. And O4W's proximity to the Beltline means you can easily hike or bike off your food and drink. Soon there will be a streetcar that connects Old Fourth Ward to the downtown area as part of a loop from Centennial Olympic Park to The King Center, but in the meantime, there are some great cheap hotel and AirBNB options if you decide to make O4W your Atlanta home base instead.

Timing is Everything

Since it opened in June 2011, The Historic Fourth Ward Park is described as an oasis where only asphalt used to be. Bordering the Beltline, it is now public greenspace with open lawns, a playground, a skatepark, a splashpad, an outdoor theater, and a 2-acre lake. At the end of June, the Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces holds a two-day festival at the park celebrating the art and history of the community. Every January, several days of events take place at The King Center, including a march and rally in the King Historic District.
