Sheraton Austin at the Capitol

Business Class Comfort and Luxury in Austin

Sheraton Austin at the Capitol is a high-rise business class hotel in downtown Austin just a couple of blocks from the Texas Capitol Building. It is also within walking distance of The Frank Erwin Center and the shopping and restaurant lined 6th Street.

Enjoy the Unique Indoor/Outdoor Pool

Starting with the hotel itself, you can take a swim in the Sheraton’s unique indoor/outdoor connected pool. Enjoy the comforts of a long soak in the hot tub, or pick up essentials at the on-site gift and sundry shop.

Beyond the hotel, the college town of Austin offers a variety of activities. There are water sports such as kayaking, water skiing, sailing, and canoeing available at the close-by Town and Lady Bird Lakes. Also, hiking and biking trails are mere minutes away.

If you’ve brought the children, be sure to check out the amphibious tour of the city and Lake Austin offered by Austin Land and Lake Tour. During the summer, the company operates three tours on most days, dropping down to one or two tours per day during the weekdays and three on the weekends.

Large Suites and Rooms with Views

The hotel has a total of 364 rooms on 16 floors. All rooms are well-appointed with 32 inch flat-screen LCD televisions, cable channels, in-room movies,  wireless or wired Internet (at an additional cost) room service, coffee and tea maker, and a desk.

You have the choice of either a single king-sized bed, or two double beds, and the choice of floor, depending on the view you want.  In addition, the Sheraton Austin has suites available, which have more space than the regular guest rooms, but with the same choices in amenities. Club level rooms come with access to the Club Level Lounge and a complimentary continental breakfast.

Like the many business class hotels in downtown Austin, Sheraton Hotel Austin at the Capitol has all the amenities one would expect from a hotel of its caliber. It is unique however, in that it has a connected indoor/outdoor pool. A close competitor is the Hyatt Place Austin Downtown. The Hyatt has many of the same amenities that the Sheraton has, but unlike most of the other hotels, including the Sheraton, its WiFi is complimentary and available in every part of the complex. Another unique feature of the Sheraton is that it is dog friendly.

Expert Reviews
The Sheraton is a good deal. It's 5 blocks east of the capitol and within easy walking distance of downtown and the university campus.
Thanks to its location near the State Capitol, this 365-room hotel primarily attracts a corporate clientele.
