Historic, Affordable Hotel in Downtown Austin

Affordable Luxury in Central Austin

A Hyatt hotel, The Driskill is a historic centerpiece in downtown Austin. This iconic hotel is close to a number of sites, including the Texas State Capitol, Lady Bird Lake, and the Paramount Theater. Perfectly situated at the intersection of 6th Street and Congress Avenue, The Driskill is also a stone's throw from Austin's vivacious live music scene. Nearby Amtrak and metro stations make this a conveniently located hotel for the budget-conscious traveler.

Fine Dining and a Shopper's Haven

Spend an afternoon on the bustling streets of Austin where you can find a mix of local boutiques and name brands for a truly distinct experience. Congress Avenue and 2nd Street are good areas to start your shopping. Afterwards, enjoy a meal at The Driskill Grill, a New American restaurant that has received many accolades over the years in publications such as Zagat's, Fodor's, and more.

Austin lights up at night, and guests will love the hotel's proximity to popular music venues including Stubb's Bar-B-Q, Emo's, and Parish. Most venues specialize in specific music genres, although a few venues showcase all kinds of music. Before heading out to explore, stop by the The Driskill Bar, decorated in classic Texan style, for a quick cocktail to set the tone.

Historical Rooms on a Budget

Bypass the opulent 12' ceilings and wide hallways in the lobby as you head to your room or suite in The Driskill. Rooms feature custom furniture, luxurious custom beds and linens, and plush terry cloth robes. Catch up on some work using the in-room work desk and complimentary Wi-Fi before indulging in a bubble bath filled with fine English bath products. The Driskill is a non-smoking hotel, ideal for families, business travelers, and the budget-conscious adventurer.

Expert Reviews
Condé Nast Traveler
The very Texan and historic hotel located in the heart of downtown was opened in 1886 by Jesse Lincoln, a wealthy cattle baron whose portrait remains in the lobby.
There's no pool or other on-site amenities besides a nice fitness center and small massage room, but the location in the heart of Austin's famous Sixth Street entertainment district is prime.
Travel + Leisure
Its Romanesque exterior, with arched entrances and brick and limestone from the area, is a distinctive landmark along 6th Street in the heart of Austin’s downtown music and entertainment district.
