La Sagrada Familia is a large Roman Catholic church in Barcelona, designed by famed Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. After taking over design of the church in 1883, Gaudi spent more than 40 years on it, combining both Gothic and Art Nouveau forms. The first stone was laid in 1882, and the basilica has been under construction ever since. Construction of the church is planned to be completed in 2026. Although incomplete, the church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Hotel Sagrada Familia is an unassuming property, just a four-minute walk from the church. It has a rooftop terrace that features terrific views of La Sagrada Familia. Castro Exclusive Residences SPA Sagrada Familia is also a four-minute walk away and features contemporary apartments and a rooftop terrace. The Verdaguer metro station is a five-minute walk away.
The Basilica de la Sagrada Familia is centrally located in Barcelona, close to many shops and restaurants along nearby Gaudi Avenue, as well as transportation options, so it is an ideal area to stay for visitors wishing to easily explore the city by foot, bus, or metro. Gaudi's Park Guell, Casa Batllo, and Casa Mila (La Pedrera) are also nearby.
Tickets for both self-guided and guided tours of the church are available for purchase either online or in person. Allow at least one hour for the tour, and be sure to check the schedule for opening hours when planning your visit, as visiting times vary.
