The Museo Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, abbreviated MNAC, is the national museum of Catalan visual art located in the Palau Nacional of Montjuïc. Constructed for the International Exposition of 1929, it is a palatial, hilltop museum that houses Catalan art from the 11th to the 21st century, as well as Romanesque art. In 1934, it opened as the Museu d'Art de Catalunya with the medieval collection. In 1995, the then-named Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya introduced the new rooms of Romanesque art.
