Construction for the National Indoor Stadium began in 2005, in anticipation of the 2008 Olympics. The stadium hosted the artistic gymnastics, handball, and trampoline events. Today, the stadium is still used for sporting competitions, concerts, and other entertainment events. Beijing residents get to use the stadium’s exercise facilities as well.
