What Do I Need to Know About Ames Boston Hotel?

All you really need to know is that the Ames Boston Hotel is housed in the historic Ames building, combining old world class and modern facilities. When staying there, you will be within a few strides of many major Boston landmarks and you’ll be able to enjoy the fitness center, free Wi-Fi, free bicycle rental, and the hotel’s King St. Tavern that overlooks the Old State House and offers evening entertainment. Additionally, there are plenty of restaurants near the Ames as well.

What’s the Location Like?

Located right across the street from the Old State House in the very heart of Boston, the Ames boasts a nearly perfect location. When you walk for ten minutes to the east, you’ll be at Boston Harbor, passing the stores and food courts of Quincy Market on your way. Walking in the other direction for ten minutes will bring you to the beautiful Boston Common and the start of the Freedom Trail, the city’s fantastic historic walking trail, which passes sixteen historically significant sites.

How Much Can I Expect to Pay?

The average price for one night ranges around $269 per room. The cheapest rate is $229, which buys you a night in a bed in the Standard or Superior Room. The Deluxe Suites are still fairly affordable at $339 per night. All rooms are non-smoking and it is also worth noting that children up to 12 years old can stay for free in their parents’ room.

What’s the Bottom Line?

The Ames is a relatively affordable hotel, especially considering its fabulous downtown location. The free Wi-Fi and fitness center make it a popular place to stay among business travelers; families love the décor and the free bicycles.

The 113-room downtown property is the very chic result of a collaboration between David Rockwell and the Morgans Hotel Group—the New York-based founding fathers, so to speak, of the boutique hotel.
