Stay in Boston on a Budget

A Budget Stay in the Heart of Boston

The DoubleTree by Hilton is nestled in the center of Boston’s Downtown Theatre District. This district boasts more than a dozen major venues in the immediate area with performances ranging from touring Broadway shows to experimental, avant-garde productions.

The hotel is next to Boston’s ‘T’ subway, run by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, or the MBTA. The Tufts Medical Center station is a one-minute walk from the hotel’s front steps. At this station, you can catch the Orange or Silver line and easily get around the city. This stop is also only six stops, or 4.5 miles, from Boston’s Logan International Airport, which makes for convenient airport transportation. The MBTA also runs various bus and commuter rail routes around the city.

Never a Dull Moment

Boston is a city bursting with places to go and things to see. But if you choose to stick around the hotel, the on-site Wisteria Restaurant and Bar offers a delicious seasonal menu as well as an array of signature local dishes. If you’re visiting Boston on business, the DoubleTree has over 4,000 square feet of meeting space that can accommodate up to 300 people, perfect for hosting conferences. The hotel also provides guests with complimentary access to the YMCA facility adjacent to the hotel, which houses weights and cardio equipment and offers a variety of fitness classes.

As a hotbed of activity during the American Revolution, there are many monuments and museums around Boston to take in. The best way to take it all in is to follow the Freedom Trail, a brick-lined path through historic Boston that takes tourists to 16 historically significant sites, including Paul Revere’s house, the Bunker Hill monument, the site of the Boston Massacre, and the USS Constitution. Tours are free and leave every hour, either on the hour or the half-hour depending on your starting place.

If you’re a sports fanatic, Boston is sure to have a team for you. Take in a hockey game with the Bruins, a basketball game with the Celtics, or a football game with the Patriots.

The Lap of Affordable Luxury

The DoubleTree’s 267 rooms were renovated in 2014 and luxury abounds. When you’re not out exploring, relax with premium TV channels on the flatscreen TV, or unwind with a hot shower and designer toiletries. WiFi is available for a fee. Sofa beds make these rooms great for families, and the comfortable beds mean everyone will get a great night’s sleep. In the morning, you can get your day started right with a hot cup of coffee thanks to the in-room coffee maker, or grab a drink to go from the on-site Starbucks.

The Bottom Line

Much like the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel, the DoubleTree by Hilton Boston Downtown is centrally located and ideal for enjoying this historic city. However, the DoubleTree's proximity to a subway station makes exploring Boston's outer neighborhoods like Cambridge easy and convenient.
