More About Budapest, Hungary Hotels...

Getting From the Airport to Your Hotel

The best way to reach your hotel from the airport is via taxi service. Taxi rates are standard and run on a meter, so no negotiating is necessary. Your hotel's front-desk staff can arrange a taxi pick-up for you, or you can find taxis lined up near many major hotels and train stations.

Spring in Budapest

The best time to visit Budapest is in the spring or fall, when temperatures are moderate and the city is not overcrowded. Hotels and flights are more reasonably priced during these months as well. St. Stephen's Day, Hungary's national holiday, is August 20, so travel during this time is more expensive and crowded. There are many festivals and events throughout the year in Budapest, so its best to check an event calendar when planning your trip.

Getting Around the City

For the most part, Budapest is a pedestrian-friendly city, with most popular tourist attractions within walking distance of each other. A walk across the Charles Bridge is highly recommended, especially at night. The city consists of two sides, Buda and Pest, separated by the Danube River. There are various bridges that allow for easy access to both sides of the city. Public transportation and taxis are also available; however, the best way to see the city is by foot.

Budapest's History and Attractions

There are many things to see and experience in Budapest for free or on the cheap. Free Budapest Tours offers a couple of free walking tours to get you acquainted with the city. Or, on your own you can take a walk down Andrassy Avenue past historic palaces and villas, as well as beautiful gardens and shopping boutiques.

Along the river, stroll past the Parliament Building and make your way to the very moving monument called Shoes on the Danube. This monument is a tribute to the victims of World War II. For a little more adventure, climb up Castle Hill and visit the Buda Castle while enjoying great views of the city. The Lanchid 19 Design Hotel is an affordable hotel within walking distance of the castle and the Fisherman's Bastion.

AirBNB Properties

There are many private residences for rent through AirBNB. Options include renting an entire home or apartment, a private room in a home, or a shared room. There is a range of budget options on AirBNB as well, and most rental properties are near major tourist areas.

Affordable Hotels Near Major Attractions

Near the Buda Castle, the art'otel Budapest by Park Plaza and the Hotel Belvedere Budapest offer guests an affordable stay with many popular amenities. Closer to the city center on the Pest side of the river, families will enjoy the Starlight Suiten Hotel, an all-suite hotel with a kitchenette in every room. Kids under the age of 11 stay free with their parents at the Starlight as well. Also near the city center, the modern and luxurious Eurostars Budapest Center hotel provides a restaurant on-site, as well as a sauna, fitness center, and free Wi-Fi.

If you are planning on taking advantage of the Rudas Baths, the Marriott Executive Apartments Millennium Court is close by. The Marriott offers help with booking tour tickets and provides a sauna and fitness facilities on the property.
