More About Cannes, France Hotels...

The Winter Season is the Best Period for Booking a Hotel

The summer tends to be the busiest season of the year for hotels in Cannes, and so it is quite hard to find rooms at regular prices. Another period to avoid booking a hotel, because it is mostly impossible to find a room, is during the Cannes Film Festival. Even if the prices are regular, hotels and other types of accommodation are usually already booked, so it's a bit harder to find a place.

The prices in the winter, especially around the holidays are quite cheap and most hotels offer special deals. These discounts can sometimes be as low as a quarter of the standard price. Some of the hotels that offer such a discount are La Clé du Sud and Hôtel Select, both only two miles from the center.

Choosing the Cheapest Part of the City to Stay

There aren't many areas of this town on the  where the lodgings are all cheap or all expensive. The prices vary and you can find a cheap hotel near a super expensive one in the city center, as well as in the areas a few miles further. However, the area near the train station has a higher concentration of budget-friendly hotels, like Atlantis* and Bellevue, and it is a great starting point for walking tours through the city.

Neighbourhoods where you will find cheap hotels are Le Croisette, La Bocca, and Antibes. The first one is about half a mile from the center, while the other two are more distant. La Bocca is about two miles away, and Antibes is about five. Le Croisette is just a two minute walk from the beach, so you can stay close to it without paying beachfront prices.

Sightseeing in Cannes on a Budget

If you want to see interesting free or cheap sights in Cannes, consider Le Suquet, the old part of the town located across the historic port. Travelers will fall in love with the charming architecture, as well as many restaurants, cafés, and souvenir shops. You should also check out Musee de la Castre, located on a hill with amazing views on the city and the sea. Musee de la Castre has an impressive collection of artifacts. This route is especially popular among tourists during the winter time, when it is quite cool outside, and even those who don't like museums visit Musee de la Castre just to warm up a bit!

Another place you should definitely visit is the popular shopping street in Cannes: Rue d'Antibes. Not far from Rue d'Antibes is a famous scenic drive on Route des Cretes La Palud, a perfect place from taking scenic photos, or biking on a sunny day. About a mile off the shore of Cannes is the ancient and mysterious Île Saint-Honorat. This island has a monastery, where you can taste grapes and wine made by the monks who live there. This attraction is highly recommended by all who check it out.

Finding the Right Hostels in Cannes

The range of hostels in Cannes is poor. There are only two hostels in the city. The first one, Le Chalit*, is labout five minutes away from the city center, near the train station, which is worth considering if you are looking for a hostel, since it is in a location full of restaurants and hotels that can provide you with whatever the hostel lacks.

The other one is Éthic étapes Cannes Jeunesse*, located on the island of Ile Sainte Marguerite. However, if you stay there, you will need to take a 15 minute boat ride if you want to reach the city center. Besides that, it is the only edifice on the island and since it is a part of historic fort it is a bit more expensive that what one might expect for a hostel.

Diverse and Affordable Airbnb Selections

Cannes has a lot to offer in terms of Airbnb rentals. With over 1000 rentals available, you can find entire homes, private rooms, shared rooms, and more. The best option if you are traveliling alone or with one other person is a studio. The prices are about the same as the ones in hotels. For about $60 per night for 2 persons, you get to have a cozy place with your own kitchen.

Airbnb is a great option for budget travellers who want to save some money by cooking their own food. Shared rooms are a bit cheaper, and you can find them for about $35. There is not a huge gap between the hotels and this kind of accommodation, especially studio bookings, so pick whatever best suits your needs and budget.

Stay at Great Hotels Near Amazing Landmarks

As it was already mentioned, you can find cheap hotels everywhere in Cannes. You don't need to take any kind of transportation. If you want to see the landmarks of the city, they are usually in walking distance from wherever you are staying. For some of the landmarks like Route des Cretes you will have to rent a car or a bike, and to reach Ile Sainte Honore you'll need to take a boat ride. For visiting some more distant sights, Nice is another popular city, about 15 miles from Cannes, and you can take a train or a bus to reach it.

For all travelers on a budget who would like to visit Cannes, information about flights, cheap hotels, Airbnbs, or other types of accommodations are available at Hipmunk. Enjoy your stay in Cannes!
