Info

Because the building is now a college dorm, visitors can’t stroll in at any hour. Contact Cleveland State University 411 in advance for a glimpse of the impressive lobby’s intricate moldings and marble stairs.

History

Originally built for the National Town and Country Club, Fenn Tower serves as a reminder of the Depression. A 1930s newspaper captured its varied history with the headline: "Rich man's club becomes poor man's college."

In December 1930, the business club was forced to close their exclusive digs after only using it one time, abandoning the investment equivalent to $27 million today. Seven years later, it was rescued as part of Fenn College and now serves as student housing for Cleveland State University.
