The National Museum of Denmark includes exhibits that honor the history of Danish culture, along with many other foreign cultures from South America to Greenland and everywhere in between. It also provides sponsorship for SILA – The Greenland Research Centre to continue and improve upon anthropological and archaeological research in Greenland. The museum is categorized by conservation, ethnology, natural science, communication, antiquarian building, archaeology, numismatics, and National Treasures. The exhibits include artifacts and renderings from the last 14,000 years of Danish history.
The First Hotel Twentyseven is a tenth of a mile from the National Museum of Denmark. The property has a modern feel and the rooms start at $115 USD per night. Guests can also rent bikes to tour the city. Another option is the Hotel Danmark, also located in the city center and within walking distance to the museum, which has rooms from $111 USD per night. There is an on-site bar and two restaurants, and the hotel has a complimentary wine hour every evening along with free tea and coffee all day.
The major benefit of staying at a hotel near the National Museum of Denmark is the proximity to many other attractions. Spend a day or more viewing the exhibits at the museum, then visit the Tivoli Gardens or Stroget, a shopping mecca known around the world.
Admission to the National Museum of Denmark is free for all ages. It also has a dedicated children’s section with plenty of “please touch” activities and exhibits. During the summer, guided tours are offered. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
