Swim With Dolphins in the Florida Keys at Hawks Cay Resort

What Do the Rooms Include?

All guest rooms or villas have an LCD television, Bose radio, and an in-room safe. Premium bedding and free Wi-Fi are included. Amenities also include a refrigerator, individual climate control, daily housekeeping, a hair dryer, and an iron. Room service is available during limited hours. The rooms are decorated in a breezy West Indies-style decor. The rooms all offer something different — some are quieter, some are closer to resort activities, some have beautiful sunset views — so be sure to let the resort know your preferences when booking.

What Amenities Does the Hawks Cay Resort Offer?

The resort is on a private beach with a marina for fishing, snorkeling, sailing, and other water sports. Five sparkling pools welcome children or adults. Five restaurants give you casual and fine dining options all day long. Take advantage of the fitness center, steam room, and sauna, or book an appointment to be pampered in the full-service spa. Child care and a game room help entertain the kids, and there’s a nightclub for adults. But the feature that sets Hawks Cay apart from other hotels in Duck Key is the saltwater lagoon where guests can observe and interact with dolphins.

What are the Room Rates at Hawks Cay Resort?

Depending on the season and the options you choose, room rates can vary from $250 to $500 per night. You’ll pay an additional resort fee of $40 per night.

What activities are popular near Hawks Cay Resort?

You’ll be surrounded by the Florida Keys, a haven for outdoor recreation. Nearby you’ll find golfing, snorkeling, kayaking, sailing, water skiing, parasailing, hiking trails, and bicycle rentals. The Dolphin Research Center is just up the highway, and several state parks are nearby as well, including Long Key and Curry Hammock State Parks. Sombrero Beach in Marathon is a popular sunbathing destination. Bud & Mary's Dive Center and the bi-plane rides at Conch Air are popular destinations within the Keys.

How Can I Interact with Dolphins at Hawks Cay Resort?

Those who'd like to meet the resort's Atlantic bottlenose dolphins have several options. The Dolphin Discovery Program, priced at $175, gives you the opportunity to swim with these gentle creatures (although the swimming portion of the program is optional). A Trainer for a Day program ($325) and Dockside ($60) are also available. A pod of friendly dolphins live in an ocean-fed saltwater lagoon on the resort property, and are available for viewing by resort guests for free.

What’s the Bottom Line?

Dolphin encounters are the biggest draw at this family resort and spa in the Florida Keys. The private beach is a great place to relax or engage in water sports, and multiple swimming pools and entertainment options will engage the whole family.
