Channings is an informal and relaxed hotel with a very friendly approach to service. In keeping with its location slightly away from Edinburgh city centre, it is a wonderfully quirky property which feels like a Scottish country house, full of charming Victorian memorabilia. One of the Channings townhouses, was home to Sir Ernest Shackleton, the Antarctic explorer, while he was secretary of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society. We have named our top-floor suites after Shackleton and his fellow adventurers, and you will find expedition photography through out the hotel.

For the price, this quaint hotel delivers good value for Edinburgh and is full of character.

Five Edwardian terraced town houses make up this intimate, elegant hotel in an upscale West End neighborhood just minutes from Princes Street.
The Telegraph
There is an air of Edwardian reliability about this comfortable, if slightly lived-in, former home of polar explorer Ernest Shackleton. There is plenty of memorabilia around the hotel...
