Cheap Lodgings Near the Royal Mile

Walking Distance from the Best Parts of Edinburgh

If you are visiting Scotland and want to stay in central Edinburgh, the Novotel Edinburgh Centre is a great option. It is located close to the famous Grassmarket, the Royal Mile in Old Town, and Princes Street. The 180-room property is within walking distance of everything from the National Museum of Scotland to Arthur’s Seat. If you are traveling to or from the airport, note that it’s only about 25 minutes away.

Celebrate History and Shopping in the Same Area

The Old Town portion of Edinburgh has structures that date back to medieval times. Fans of the Restoration era in particular will be captivated by the remaining buildings from that time. The legendary Grassmarket beneath Edinburgh Castle is the tourist highlight of this region. A pub crawl here is something to cross off your bucket list. The clubs and shops in Grassmarket are famous throughout Europe.

Just down the road from Old Town is New Town, although that term is somewhat misleading. Many of the buildings here were crafted between 1765 and 1850, making them equally culturally significant. The two regions in combination are a UNESCO World Heritage Site you will not want to miss.

Traveling to Arthur’s Seat provides a panoramic view of the city. This site rests upon a dormant volcano. If you are willing to make the trek from St. Anthony's Chapel to Holyrood Park, you will be treated to a breathtaking look down below from one of the highest points in Edinburgh.

Enjoy Some of the Finest Cuisine in Edinburgh

The locals rave about the Novotel Edinburgh Centre breakfast offerings. Elements serves modern cuisine as well as classic dishes. The adjoining bar is open later if you need a quick bite and miss dinner service. Room service is also available. Also note that this hotel is pet-friendly. If you are bringing a furry companion with you, it is one of the few properties in the area that will welcome them.

Top Tier Amenities for the Area

All rooms at the hotel include amenities such as coffee maker, minibar, HDTV with satellite programming, iPod docking station, bathrobe, slippers, complimentary WiFi, and upgraded soaps, shampoo, and lotions in the bathroom. If you choose to upgrade, suites include additional televisions and a second bedroom.

The Bottom Line

The Novotel Edinburgh Centre is a moderately well reviewed property that is much more affordable than some of the competing properties in the city. Save a lot of money by staying here.
