The Rutland Hotel—Classy Accommodations with View of the Castle

What’s a Rutland Hotel Room Include?

Edinburgh's star attraction is its castle, and the Rutland is only a stroll away. You'll feel like royalty too during your stay at this hotel. Each room is individually and distinctively designed, and you're welcomed with a basket of muffins. There are only 12 rooms, so the hotel staff is able to offer personal attention to all guests.

What Amenities are Available?

Breakfast at the hotel includes Scottish dishes and milkshakes as well as standard fare made to order (and served until 11 a.m. for those who need to sleep in). The steakhouse restaurant grills Aberdeen Angus to perfection.

For business travelers, Edinburgh International Conference Centre is nearby. For dining options, explore the many bars and restaurants on George Street.

What are the Rates Like?

Rates vary by room type. You'll pay about $150 for a double room; $215 for the junior suite with super king sized bed and Jacuzzi tub; $220 for a room with a view of the castle and an elegant chandelier; and $333 for an apartment with room for four or five guests and its own small courtyard. All rooms include Wi-Fi. Rates are comparable to rates at other luxury boutique hotels nearby such as The Glasshouse Edinburgh.

What's the Bottom Line?

The hotel is only five minutes from the train station and 30 minutes via the airport bus that stops across the street. It's ideally located to explore Edinburgh's tourist attractions.

The hotel's apartment accommodations are comfortable for families or those making an extended stay at hotels in Edinburgh, while the courteous service in the main hotel makes all guests feel at home.

Expert Reviews
Time Out
The Rutland offers lavish decor and a modish experience that may once have seemed too ostentatious... but now feels quite at home.
The property was updated in 2008, which added glamour to the 12 individually decorated guest rooms with extravagant colors and baroque design.
Party people can choose between the ground-floor cocktail bar or a booth in the One Below lounge club in the basement.
The Telegraph
This smart, sassy West End hotel has 12 modern boutique bedrooms, as well as a popular all-day restaurant/bar, a steak restaurant and an underground bar that is gin distillery by day,...
