Seafarers Paradise

HafenCity Harbor Master

If you are staying in the port town of Hamburg, the 25hours Hotel HafenCity offers one of the best views of the harbor. As the second largest harbor in Europe, it provides guests an up close and personal view and an understanding of what a real port town is all about. Even the hotel has taken up the theme by depicting the seafarers’ journey throughout the entire hotel. Legends from throughout history and around the world play out all around you. The theme is well done, and guests enjoy the natural fit with the hotel.

The Nautical Mile

The 25hours hotels offer visitors an unusual experience as compared to other hotels. The Mare Kiosk within the hotel is an example of how this hotelier thinks differently. The kiosk is a collaborative partnership and extols the benefits of ecologically sound practices. You have everything from “stop the water while using me!” bath products to the Two Wheels Good pop-up store, which offers guests delightful handmade urban bicycles and Schlafschaf sheep to cure children’s homesickness. Other novelties include local press magazines and other Hamburg originals that are a true treat for most guests. The nautical bar and lounge provides a great place to relax and have a drink.

Row your Boat Ashore

There are attractions of note in HafenCity within a 10 minute walk of the hotel, such as the Hamburg Cruise Center, Miniatur Wunderland, and Unilever Haus.  You will want to take public transit into downtown Hamburg for other attractions. With plenty of transportation options like the underground U-Bahn, S-Bahn city rail, A-Bahn commuter trains, buses, and harbor ferries, there are many ways to get where you're going.

Small but Quaint

Rooms at the 25hours hotel run small but are packed with modern amenities, including free Wi-Fi, wired Internet connections, flat-panel TV, cable service, daily housekeeping, and a private bathroom with shower and climate controls.

The Bottom Line

This is not the closest hotel to downtown Hamburg, and the rooms are a little small. But the experience and the theme of the hotel more than make up for these deficiencies. If you stay on the fourth or fifth floors, you have the best view of the harbor. As a new hotel with modern amenities, this place has business perks like conference rooms and meeting spaces, and individual perks like the sauna, restaurant, and laundry facilities.

Lonely Planet
Funky decor, an infectious irreverence and postmodern vintage flair make this pad a top choice among global nomads.
Although the trendy 25hours Hotel HafenCity is a little more kitsch than absolutely necessary, it does take guests on a fun trip back to Hamburg's maritime past
Michelin Guide
For individuality and originality you can't beat this Hamburg hotel. ... It's no surprise in a hotel full of seafaring references to find that all the rooms have a cabin feel.
