Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa, 1230 Guestrooms

Na Hoola Spa — Wonderful Hotel Amenity

Guests appreciate the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa having a large outdoor splash pool with an adjacent bar. Local musicians play Hawaiian music every evening, making the pool area a great place to relax before dinner. All hotel restaurants feature menu items from local sources.

Other hotel amenities and services at this 100% smoke-free Global Hyatt property include a grocery/convenience store, picnic area, wedding services, 24-hour business center, conference center and meeting rooms, and local expert concierge. A surcharge applies to both valet and self-parking.

The Hyatt Regency’s 10,000-square-foot Na Hoola Spa, available at a surcharge, offers massages, body treatments, wraps, and other services. The spa has a dry sauna, steam room, and fitness center.

The hotel charges all guests a Resort Fee, now USD26.18 per room per night. This fee, which is not included in the quoted room rate, includes domestic and international phone calls, faxes, in-room bottled water, in-room safe, newspaper, health club access, and beach access, towels, and lounges.

Room renovations, conducted on weekdays, began in mid-June 2014 and will continue until about the end of March 2015. When booking a room, it is best to ask for one of the 1230 guestrooms away from the construction noise.

Guestroom Amenities Include a Lanai

Guests appreciate the fact that their rooms have a furnished lanai (balcony). All rooms have wireless and high-speed wired Internet access (both at a surcharge), refrigerator, coffee/tea maker, premium bedding, cable television with premium channels and pay movies, and bathrobes. In-room massages are available. If parents want to go out for the evening, ask the hotel to arrange in-room childcare (a surcharge applies).

Convenient Central Waikiki Location

The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach is across Kalakaua Avenue (the main Waikiki thoroughfare) from Kuhio Beach. The beach, next to Waikiki Beach, has a natural breakwater. This makes it an ideal spot for calm ocean swimming.

Kapiolani Regional Park, home to the Waikiki Aquarium, Honolulu Zoo, tennis courts, and jogging paths, is five blocks away. Families with young children will especially like the petting zoo at Honolulu Zoo. Children can get close to the young animals, some of which walk among the zoo’s visitors.

Ala Wai Golf Course is less than a half-mile away. Buses and trolleys stopping nearby take visitors to many Honolulu sightseeing venues, including Iolani Palace in Downtown Honolulu, the only royal residence in the United States.

The Bottom Line

The Hyatt Regency, in central Waikiki, has a lot to offer their guests. Families staying at the resort appreciate the grocery/convenience store and picnic area. The Resort Fee assessed by the hotel is a surprise to some guests.  The hotel breaks these charges out rather than including them in the room rate as many other properties do. Na Hoola Spa offers a variety of pampering services.

The similarly priced Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort, in the same neighborhood as the Hyatt, doesn’t offer the Hyatt’s comprehensive spa services, and there is no grocery store or picnic area.
