As one of the largest and oldest museums in the nation, there’s something for everyone. If you like art, there’s African, American, European, and Asian pieces. There’s textiles and fashion. There’s family art making and guided tours. In addition, Virginia B. Fairbanks Park combines art with nature with the Lilly House and Gardens and the acres of land. But the flagship is Ruth Lilly Visitors Pavilion, the keystone of the park with its beautiful architecture and landscaping.
The Sleep Inn & Suites and Conference Center and the Baymont Inn & Suites are nice choices. Another favorite is the Inn at The Villa. If you’re looking for real cheap, there’s always Indy Hostel.
If you want to enjoy a weekend of family fun at the museum, stay nearby so you don’t miss a thing. If attending during school vacation, it's busy and crowded. During that time make your hotel reservations ahead of time too.
Adult tickets are $18, while students and 6-17 year olds get in for $10. There’s free parking in the lot or underground. You’re subject to security check and can only bring in a purse, medical, or diaper bag.
