“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”
San Juan Capistrano is Orange County's oldest city, and home to the Mission of San Juan Capistrano. Crowned "The Jewel of Missions," this Spanish missionary settlement was founded in 1776 by Padre Junipero Serra and is key to California history. Tourists and locals flock here in late March to celebrate the legendary return of the swallows. You can't miss the 40-foot high clock tower, mission bell and charming ticket office of The Depot, San Juan Capistrano's 1894 vintage train stop. Los Rios Street has 31 historic structures, including three adobe homes constructed in 1794.
