More About Irving, TX Hotels...

Enjoy a Vibrant City Break in Irving, Texas

Conveniently located near Dallas and Fort Worth, Irving knows how to impress. Free and low-cost attractions, and cheap hotels such as Aloft Las Colinas and Hyatt House, mean it is easy to enjoy this popular city for less.

Time Your Visit to Catch the Football Season

The summer months are often unbearably hot, so it’s best to visit between March and May or between September and October. The Cowboys’ football season means that fall is a busy time. The Budget Host Inn Arlington and the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites are both located within walking distance of the AT&T Stadium. Booking last-minute isn’t guaranteed to save you money, so for peace of mind, it’s worth choosing accommodation in advance.

Plentiful Sightseeing Opportunities

Enjoying Irving attractions needn’t cost a dime. The Mustangs of Las Colinas sculpture and the Mustang Museum in Williams Square are excellent, while the exhibitions at the Irving Arts Center usually offer free admission. The popular Nylo Hotel lies near these attractions. Free attractions in Dallas include the Cedar Ridge Preserve and self guided tours through the Arts District, while admission costs to the Dallas World Aquarium and the Dallas Arboretum are reasonable. Also of interest are the Martin Luther King Birthday Parade (January), the West End’s Mardi Gras Parade (February), and the Texas International Blues Festival (August).

Hostels and Airbnb Accommodation Versus Cheap Irving Hotels

The Wild, Wild West Backpackers B and B is the only hostel in Irving. It’s a little way from downtown, but close enough to the train station to mean that this won’t be a problem. Walk-ins are welcome, although you’ll be charged an extra $1/night to pay by card or PayPal. Nightly rates for Airbnb options are similar to what you would pay for a cheap hotel, although amenities are often impressive by comparison.

Enjoy Luxury for Less

Irving has several high-end hotel options, and while you won’t find these hotels for $50 a night, the cost is not necessarily prohibitive. Hotel Las Colinas, set in the heart of the urban center, is within reach of several trendy shops and restaurants, and offers amenities such as a spa tub, complimentary WiFi, and a pillow top bed. Embassy Suites Dallas is equally popular; near to Dallas Zoo and the Irving Mall, amenities include a 10-story tropical arboretum and a modern fitness center. Both Hotel Las Colinas and Embassy Suites are examples of hotels in Irving with indoor pools.

Getting To and From the Airport

The closest airport to Irving, Texas, is the DFW International Airport. There are several airport hotels such as Studio 6 DFW Airport North, Ramada DFW Airport South, and the DFW Airport Hotel and Conference Center. Reviews for these cheap hotels vary, but all offer a free airport shuttle and are ideal if you seek low-cost accommodation within reach of the area’s attractions.

Getting Around Irving

Much of Irving, particularly the Las Colinas Mandalay Canal area, is best explored on foot, although there is plentiful public transport should you tire of walking. The local APT system is free to use, but only available on weekdays. The Dart system offers value for money, with a seven-day pass costing just $25. If you’re heading into Fort Worth or Dallas, the Trinity Railway Express is another option, although there is no service on Sundays or late at night.

Useful Resources

Event listings, dining suggestions, and an interactive map are available on the Irving Convention and Visitors website. The DART website offers scheduling information, while the GoPass mobile ticketing app is handy if you want to buy DART passes using your smartphone.

If you’re looking to enjoy an affordable city break, Irving is the ideal choice of destination. Cheap hotels and fantastic attractions will tempt you to return and experience it all over again.
