Boutique Hotel Without the Upscale Pricing

Located Right on the Rio Tejo

The 17th century meets the 21st in the charming LX boutique hotel. It's an affordable and independent hotel with the little touches that make it special, and for a lot less than the nearby Memmo Alfama. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and some have beautiful views of the Rio Tejo while others have city views. It's within walking distance of many historic destinations and a short tram or bus ride to others.

Walk to Interesting Destinations From the Hotel

The Chiado museum is of particular interest to art enthusiasts as it is home to artworks from Portugese artists in a narrow timeframe. It only displays artworks that date from 1850 to 1950, and has a few foreign artists mixed in. Some of the artists include Abel Manta, Amadeo de Souza Cardoso, and Auguste Rodin.

Head over to the Praca de Municipio to find the Lisbon City hall. The square itself was designed in 1755 after a tsunami and earthquake destroyed the area along with other parts of Lisbon. The Lisbon City Hall is where the Portugese Republic was proclaimed in 1910, creating an independent state.

Comfortable Rooms With Plenty of Amenities

Rooms are available in Standard Double, Standard Double with city view, Superior Double with city view, Superior Double with river view, and Grand Suite with river view. All rooms have a max occupancy of two guests and one child. Rooms can be set up with a single or double bed, depending on need. All standard rooms come with air conditioning, flat-screen TV with satellite channels, iPod dock, mini-bar, wake-up call and in suite bathroom with shower and supplied toiletries. Suites have a balcony, living area, heating, bathrobe, and slippers. An onsite restaurant offers bar and lounge seating along with tapas in the evening.

The Bottom Line

This hotel combines interesting design features, comfortable rooms and a perfect location into one, unique property. Staff is efficient and very helpful. Rooms are cleaned thoroughly and maintenance is top notch. It's conveniently located near bus and tram stations for travelling around Lisbon. Rooms have thoroughly modern designs with quirky touches that only add to the charm of the hotel. One design feature that may not suit all guests are the glass showers that don't offer much privacy. One nice touch is the complimentary sushi that is offered in the restaurant during the afternoon.
