The House of Lords is the upper house of British Parliament. Its appointed members meet in the Palace of Westminster. Members of the House of Lords spend nearly half their time scrutinizing bills before they become laws. However, these members also meet to consider public policies and challenge government decisions.
The Club Quarters Hotel, Trafalgar Square is one of the closest choices to the House of Lords, affording you an excellent view from a Victorian-style building. Alternatively, the Grange Wellington Hotel is also near the House of Lords. It looks over the Vincent Square playing fields and provides access to St. James's Park.
Although staying close to the House of Lords puts you near the London Eye and the British Museum, it's nearly a half-hour trip to the Olympia when driving or taking the tube. Keep that in mind if you plan to attend a conference or event on the Olympia grounds.
When visiting this important landmark, people often find themselves feeling hungry afterwards and looking around for restaurants near House of Lords streets. However, you can actually eat at a restaurant inside. Everyone is welcome to watch House of Lords debates on weekdays. However, tickets are required. You can request them from House of Lords members, but since many visitors do not have that option, they wait in line up to an hour before proceedings begin. Additionally, you can tour the building on Saturdays and during the summer.
