Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, Century City Luxury Hotel

Century City, Los Angeles Entertainment Industry Hub

Century City, a residential and commercial district in the western Los Angeles County region known as "Los Angeles Westside," is home to the headquarters of entertainment industry businesses, television networks, and movie studios. Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, a Global Hyatt 19-story 726-room Century City luxury hotel, is five minutes from Beverly Hills and the shops on Rodeo Drive, 10 minutes from the clubs and bars on The Sunset Strip, and 15 minutes from Santa Monica, as well as the TCL Chinese Theater and other attractions on Hollywood Boulevard.

Equinox Fitness Club + Spa, Best Gym in America

Voted "Best Gym in America" by Fitness Magazine, Equinox Fitness Club + Spa in the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza is a private club which hotel guests can use for $22 per day. The club, which employs elite-level fitness coaches, has fitness classes and state-of-the-art fitness equipment. The spa houses more than 20 treatment rooms and offers at least a dozen types of massages.

Hyatt Regency Century Plaza is the place to see and be seen — celebrities, presidents, and other dignitaries have stayed here. The hotel welcomes people with alternative lifestyles as guests. There is a restaurant, coffee shop, and bar/lounge. Limousine and town car service is available. A surcharge applies to valet and self-parking.

Dogs are welcome guests at the hotel. The cost for a stay of up to six nights is $100. Upon check-in, dogs receive a water bowl, welcome treat, and plush bed. They can use the grassy area in the hotel's backyard or be taken across the street to a dog park. In addition to these amenities, the hotel invites dogs to join the Hyatt Gold Pawsport Program, a frequent guest program.

Even if guests do not want to shop, a visit to Rodeo Drive, the most expensive shopping street in the world, is a must.

Furnished Balconies

All rooms have furnished balconies, with a view of the swimming pool, Los Angeles skyline, or mountains. Blackout curtains and premium bedding are standard, as are a minibar, flatscreen TV with cable channels and pay movies, and coffee/tea maker. A refrigerator is available upon request. There is a $10 surcharge for either WiFi or wired high-speed Internet service.

The Bottom Line

Hyatt Regency Century Plaza is the place to stay for visitors who have meetings scheduled with people associated with the entertainment industry. It's also convenient for guests interested in luxury shopping on Rodeo Drive, the nightlife along The Sunset Strip, and the personalities, sights, and sounds on Hollywood Boulevard. Dogs and their owners will love the amenities available for four-legged guests.

Guestrooms are small and Equinox Fitness Club + Spa is expensive. The InterContinental in Beverly Hills, nearby and comparably priced, imposes a $12.95 surcharge for Wi-Fi. The InterContinental, which has large rooms, doesn't have fees for using its outdoor swimming pool, spa tub, and 24-hour fitness center with cardiovascular equipment and a steam room.

Time Out
No surprises: this is simply a comfortable and efficient hotel that offers a lot of services designed to please the Hyatt's legions of business travelers.
This 726-room behemoth in Century City, the commercial hub of LA's entertainment industry, has contemporary rooms with iPod docks, flat-screen TVs, and balconies.
From the "pretty" grounds and "impressive" lobby to the "attractive" bar and "inviting" courtyard, this "glam", "midcentury modern" outpost retains a "distinct sense of style."
