Even casual and window shoppers will appreciate the areas beauty with much of the late 1900th century buildings still intact. The area is also home to the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. This historic school has been producing artists and designers since 1920 and has a high reputation as one of the best artistic schools in the Midwest.

Summerfest, the world’s largest outdoor musical festival, is held at the Henry Maier Festival Park, which is located within the Historic Third Ward. This massive festival is runs from late June to early July and has been headlined by some of the biggest acts from the entertainment world. If you happen to miss the festival the grounds are used throughout the year for other events including Winterfest, a cold weather version of the popular Summerfest party.

Walking the historic streets and enjoying the unique architecture is a great way to spend an afternoon in the city. Continue on to the picturesque Historic Third Ward Riverwalk where you can capture some amazing photos or sample some of the city’s best restaurants. If you are looking for more outdoor activities, the Lakeshore State Park is located on a peninsula at the eastern most point of the Historic Third Ward. This 22-acre park offers visitors walking trails along Lake Michigan as well as access to fishing spots.
