The San Juan Bautista Plaza is a collection of five adobe buildings that date as far back as 1813. These buildings are a historical testament to the Spanish and Mexican influence on early America. The buildings have been renovated and the interiors recreated over time, allowing all visitors to get a glimpse of what life might have been like over 200 years ago during the first years of California’s statehood.
There are several hotels that have rooms available for less than $150 per night. The Hacienda Del Leal, Best Western San Benito, the Hilton Garden Inn Gilroy, and the Quality Inn & Suites are examples of cheap accommodations in the area.
Staying close to the San Juan Bautista Plaza allows you to visit the site as often as you want to without having to drive a long distance to get there. You will almost certainly want to spend more than one day exploring the historic buildings, and staying in a hotel close to the San Juan Bautista Plaza makes it easier for you to do so.
Guided tours are available for each of the buildings on a daily basis.
