“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”
If you want nothing more than to shop or relax on a terrace with a café au lait or glass of wine, than visit Outremont and Mile End. Next to the Plateau, these upscale areas are dense with cafés and unique boutiques. Mile End, the noisier and hipper of the two areas, offers more bars and restaurants. Café Olympico on St-Viateur serves some of the best espresso in the city and is open all hours of the night. Clientele includes anyone from local rock stars to the 60-plus crowd. For more places to eat, travel to rue Bernard, west of Avenue du Parc. The restaurants here tend to be expensive but are mostly good. If Syrian dishes intrigue you try restaurant Kaza Maza on Avenue du Parc. For high-end shopping, venture up rue Laurier between Côte-Sainte-Catherine and St-Laurent.
