“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”
The southwest district of the city is made up of St. Henri, Griffintown, Little Burgundy, Pointe St. Charles, and Verdun. Mostly industrial and residential, this area still contains some gems like the Lachine Canal, Atwater Market, and Notre Dame Street. The Lachine Canal is an 11-kilometer scenic bike path that follows the river and runs south of these neighborhoods. In winter months it transforms into a cross-country path for skiers. Situated on the path you'll also find an outdoor sculpture garden. The Atwater market provides a more upscale version of Marché Jean-Talon. If antiques are your thing, check out Notre Dame Street between Guy and Atwater.
