Allianz Arena is a soccer stadium that's home to the FC Bayern Munich and TSV 1860 Munchen soccer teams. It holds up to 75,000 people at maximum capacity. FC Bayern opened a museum relating to its history inside the arena in 2012.
Hotel Ibis Muenchen Garching and Hotel Arena Stadt Munchen are the two closest hotels to the arena. Unfortunately, both are at some distance away although they each offer cheap rooms. Views of the arena itself may be limited due to the distance. Make sure to contact the hotel first to find out about visibility before booking a room in order to avoid disappointment.
Allianz Arena is located in the Schwabing borough of Munich, an area once known as the Bohemian quarter. It still holds onto this identity due to its large student population. Many bars, restaurants, and clubs call the Schwabing borough home to create an eclectic and lively atmosphere. It's perfect for travelers who want to explore and sample as many different things as possible without having to travel far.
During FIFA and UEFA events, the stadium cannot be known as Allianz Arena as both organizations forbid corporate sponsorship by corporations that are not official partners of the tournaments. Instead, the arena is known as the arena for whichever governing body happens to be organizing the tournament at the time. This may cause confusion and it's wise to pay close attention to the name of the stadium when attending an event.
