The winter and spring months are the busiest times of the year for hotels in downtown Nashville. Prices are at their peak and hotels can become fully booked months in advance, making it more difficult to find cheap lodging options. The Capitol Hotel is often overlooked by visitors and often has both the last-minute availability and competitive pricing that other nearby hotels lack. A room here will set you back around $150 regardless of the time of year.

Best Time of Year to Visit

The summer and early autumn months are the least expensive times of the year to visit Nashville without having to sacrifice on entertainment. Hotel rooms tend to be cheaper and more plentiful May through August. Finding a room under $100 per night should not be a problem, and most everywhere except the upper tier luxury hotels can be found for less than $200 per night. As an added bonus, the weather is much more enjoyable and there is no shortage of things to do around town, especially when it comes to musical performances.The CMT and CMA Awards also both take place in downtown Nashville every summer. For the solo traveler, or those who are more budget conscious, there is one hostel located downtown, the aptly named Nashville Downtown Hostel. The place is a popular choice because it's a monopoly of the Broadway hostel scene. The hostel rarely fills up completely because there are 180 beds, so last-minute travelers should consider this a possible candidate. Expect to pay $30 to $35 for a dorm room with private suites starting at around $100.

Hockey Season

For those visiting Nashville specifically to catch a Predators game, the hockey season runs from September to early April, which also happens to coincide with the peak season for all the hotels near the Bridgestone Arena. Grand Avenue, a Nashville transportation company, provides transportation to the Bridgestone Arena so you can easily get to the Predators game. Besides being home to regular hockey games, there are Christmas-themed performances every December, and the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus make an annual trip every January.
