“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”
This relatively affluent neighborhood was hard hit by Hurricane Katrina, but it's recovering nicely. In good weather residents flock to this area to fish, sunbathe, picnic, and hang out, dotting the seawall like ants on a sticky log. One of the most picturesque views of Lake Pontchartrain can be seen from the West End section of Lakeview, which contains many California-style bungalows. Stop for supper at Landry's or any of the dozens of local restaurants, and head for open waters on a rental boat—or befriend a member of the two local yacht clubs.
