St. James Hotel: Step Into the Celebration

What Do I Need to Know About the St. James?

The Banks Arcade, a landmark building from the 19th century, is home to the delightful St. James Hotel. The hotel is beautifully lit and renovated with lovely wood furnishings. In honor of the building's Caribbean sugar and coffee trade past, the new renovations are inspired by elegant West Indies decor. Enjoy a delicious cuisine at the Chophouse New Orleans, a favorite steakhouse in the city.

What's in the Area?

Located in the Central Business District, guests will be staying in the center of downtown New Orleans, where just about everything is within walking distance. Only two blocks away from the French Quarter, take a walk into the town and explore Bourbon Street, Frenchman Street, and Jackson Square. Visit the Superdome or the New Orleans Area as well. Also a few blocks away is the riverfront of the Mississippi River. Enjoy the view of the river and indulge in the shops along the Riverwalk Marketplace.

What Are the Rates?

The Standard Guestrooms average about $200 USD per night. These spacious guest rooms are decorated with a Creole-Caribbean influence and lovely wood furnishings. All of these rooms come with a microwave and mini fridge along with free wireless internet. An upgrade to the Executive Suite will make the price jump a bit, but is well worth it. The suite is much more spacious and includes a separate living area and parlor room with a pull out sofa-bed.

What's the Bottom Line?

In one of the best locations in downtown New Orleans, a stay at the St. James Hotel is well worth the price. Guests can do without a form of transportation and can still fully discover the culture and cuisine of New Orleans by foot. The St. James is ready to accommodate.

oyster.com
This mid-range historic boutique hotel lacks a gym and business center, but spacious rooms are attractive with a West Indies feel
Lonely Planet
Expect tropical prints on the walls and bedspreads. Fourth-floor rooms shelter under slanted eaves (room 403 is especially large, with a private porch).
Frommer's
A courtyard pool is sweet if miniscule, but complimentary morning coffee and fresh-baked croissants, feather beds, in-room fridge and microwave, and good online discounts
