The Standard High Line is Possibly the Hippest Hotel in NYC

What's a Standard High Line Room Include?

This ultra trendy and architecturally stunning New York hotel sits literally above the popular High Line Park in the Meatpacking District. Propped up on massive concrete stilts, the 338 rooms at the Standard feature floor to ceiling windows offering spectacular views of the Hudson River. The open bathrooms are surrounded with glass panels instead of walls and doors and are furnished with indulgent soaking tubs and rainfall shower heads. The Eero Saarinen-inspired furnishings conjure a vintage mid-century mod style. Rooms also include extravagant minibars, iHome radio and docking station, free WiFi, and luxurious Kiss My Face toiletries.

What Amenities are Available?

Does a private ice rink and rink-side kaffeeklatsch, seasonal rooftop creperie and bar, 24-hour glass-walled gym, free bicycles, 24-hour room service, and German biergarten with free ping pong sound like your idea of hotel heaven? If so, book your stay at the Standard. If that's not enough, add free WiFi throughout, a world-class restaurant with a penny-tiled floor, and several celebrity hot-spot bars, including Le Bain Discotheque with its 48-inch deep jacuzzi and the super-exclusive Top of the Standard (a.k.a. the Boom-Boom Room). Even your dog is treated like royalty at the Standard; just ask for the menu of canine amenities at check-in.

What are the Rates Like?

As one of the most fashionable and desirable hotels in New York, you'll pay a hefty price for rooms at the Standard. Expect to pay between $400 and $500 USD per night for a standard room. For corner rooms and studios, expect to pay $100 USD or more premium.

What's the Bottom Line?

The Standard is a place to see and be seen in one of the hottest NYC neighborhoods. Less a hotel than an experience, the Standard is an exceptional stay in the city. Children are welcome at the Standard; however, this hotel is best suited for adult travelers.

Lonely Planet
Hipster hotelier André Balazs has built a wide, boxy, glass tower that straddles the High Line, an old elevated train track recently turned into a public park.

Despite its location and never-ending buzz, this is one of the city's relatively reasonable hotels, made clear by the unmemorable yet inoffensive Design Within Reach–style decor.
Rough Guide
With the High Line running under it, fabulous views from its rooms and a bevy of trendy food and nightlife options on hand, André Balazs’ Standard Hotel is just about too hip for its own...
