More About Hotels near Providence Park...

What’s Providence Park?

Originally constructed in 1926, the park sits on a site that was previously known as Multnomah Field. At the time of construction, the owners named it Multnomah Civic Stadium. It had a large capacity, so many early University of Oregon and Oregon State University football games were held there until the schools built their own, larger stadiums. It has also served as the home field for the Portland Timbers (MLS), Portland Thorns FC (NWSL), Portland State University football team, Portland Mavericks (NWL), Portland Breakers (USFL), and Portland Rockies (NWL). Its name has changed five times, and it has undergone four renovations. Because of its previous ownership by Jeld-Wen, a company that manufactures doors and windows, the park earned its nickname, “The House of Pane.”
