Modern Elegance in the Center of the City

Located in a restored former warehouse built around the middle of the 20th century, the Center Hotel Thingholt is a modern, sleek oasis in the heart of the city. The building has retained many of its original architectural details, such as high ceilings and massive concrete walls, which are softened by crisp, white linens and draperies, and floor-to-ceiling windows.

More than Just Free WiFi

All 52 guest rooms and suites at this five-story Reykjavik hotel feature air conditioning, a personal safe, a mini-bar, and a flat-screen television set. The exterior of this modern boutique hotel was inspired by the Icelandic landscape: stark, yet beautiful.

Facilities at this five-star hotel includes a gym, a fitness club, and a sauna. For dining, there's a full-service restaurant, Isafold Bistro and Bar. This eatery serves a variety of continental and regional favorite and hosts a popular happy hour each afternoon. There are also dozens of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.  The Central Hotel Thingholt offers limited room service.

Breakfast is included in the room rates and free wireless Internet access is available throughout the hotel property. Transportation to and from the airport is available for a modest fee.

In the Heart of Reykjavik's Business and Tourist Districts

The Center Hotel Thingholt is located right around the corner from Reykjavik's main shopping street, and most of the city's major tourist attractions are within walking distance. This hotel is about a 30-minute drive from the Keflavik International Airport and just a few blocks from Reykjavik's Central railway station. There are several bus stops within a few blocks of the hotel, which makes getting around the city easy.

Near Shopping and Sightseeing

You don't have to travel far from this hotel to find plenty of fun and interesting things to see and do. Reykjavik's main shopping street, Laugavegur, is just outside the front door. The marina, where you can catch a whale-watching tour or sightseeing cruise, is also close by. Within a 15-minute walk are the Domkirkjan, the oldest church in the city; the Saga Museum, which explores Iceland's Viking heritage; and the National Museum of Iceland.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a small luxury hotel in the heart of Reykjavik, this boutique hotel is a good choice. The rooms are large, stylish and well-appointed, there's free WiFi, and the hotel's bar and restaurant is one of the most popular in the area.
