Colosseum Hotel: An Affordable Haven in the Center of Ancient Rome

A Great Rate Near the Colosseum

The Colosseum Hotel is a value-priced three-star property, but its location earns all the stars. From here, it's just a 10 minute walk to the Colosseum or to the main train station. You'll also find a variety of restaurants in the neighborhood, from cheap, quick eateries to luxurious dining. The nearby Metro offers an easy, inexpensive way to get around the city. Although the Hotel Colosseum is conveniently close to the action, it is tucked away on a quiet street that offers an oasis from the hustle and bustle that is Rome.

Rooftop Terrace Lets You Survey the Roman Empire

Bring a bottle of wine to the  rooftop terrace at sunset and share jaw dropping views of the historic city. By day, the terrace is the perfect spot to sun yourself or relax with a book while you soak up the ancient energy of Rome. Seating options include cushioned benches along the walls, so you can enjoy the view from every angle.

When you're well-rested and ready to explore, fill up with the hotel's buffet breakfast and join one of the  tours available through the front desk — or rent one of the Colosseum's bikes or scooters and set out to see Rome on your own! See the Pantheon, the Colosseum, the many cathedrals of the city, the Home of the Vestal Virgins, and Vatican City.

Your Room is Your Haven

When you come back exhausted from exploring the area, you'll be happy to settle into your clean, comfortable room or suite. Rome is known for its cramped hotel rooms, but the Colosseum's rooms are quite spacious by Roman standards. All the rooms have private baths and personal temperature controls, and are decked out with antique Italian furnishings. Some rooms have balconies facing the town center. Request a room on one of the higher floors to get better views and easier access to that amazing rooftop terrace.

Are you travelling solo or with your family? Besides the usual double rooms with twin or queen beds, the Colosseum can accommodate single travelers, triples, and even quadruples.

The Bottom Line

The Colosseum is a comfortable, economically priced hotel with a perfect location in Rome. The staff have a reputation for being warm, friendly and helpful, which is not always the case in such a busy tourist city. The rooftop terrace and excellent service set Hotel Colosseum apart from similarly priced properties.

The Colosseum offers a location as good as those of Rome's four-star hotels, like the Hotel Pantheon. You won't have the luxurious modern decor of the Pantheon, but if location and price are what matter to you, the Colosseum will suit you well.

If the Hotel Colosseum is booked during the time you'd like to visit Rome, consider the Hotel Raffaello, another three-star hotel in the same area. The Raffaello shares the Colosseum's great location and commitment to good service, although it lacks the Colosseum's magnificent rooftop terrace.

Expert Reviews
The rooms are clean, but they’re bland, with low-quality bedspreads, cheap curtains, and dinged, outdated wooden furniture.
