More About Saint Louis, MO Hotels...

Guests can experience affordable, just-off-the-river living in the Clayton neighborhood at the Crowne Plaza Saint Louis. Visitors will also find charming authentic stays as well, including accommodations at Napoleon's Retreat Bed and Breakfast. Read on for more on all the cheap hotels St. Louis has to offer.

Amazing Deals During St. Louis' Snow Season

Early autumn and spring are peak seasons for St. Louis. If you’re looking for a deal, booking the tail end of either season is best. Even better bargains are found in the snowy winters when visitors can enjoy the city’s empty streets while other tourists migrate to warmer climates. This makes winter a great time for last-minute deals.

Affordable Stays Near the River

Hotels along the Mississippi River are slightly more expensive; however, it’s still possible to stay in cheap hotels near St. Louis, in the heart of the city. Accommodations in Downtown West or those near Columbus Square may not have waterfront views, but they’re cheaper and still near the city’s soul.

Specifically, hotels in the Clayton neighborhood, such as the Crowne Plaza Saint Louis, are still close to area attractions, yet cost significantly less than the city’s riverfront options.

Clayton is also nearby the Americas Center Convention Complex, making it an ideal location for business trips. The neighborhood is a short, eastbound cab or MetroLink (public transportation) ride to the downtown center.

"Arching" to See All the Sights

The Gateway Arch is a 630-foot modern marvel and an affordable addition to any itinerary. Tourists can relish in the fantastic, free splendor of this lustrous landmark.

The St. Louis Arch is available all year round; however, there’s always something inexpensive to do in St. Louis, whether you’re simply taking in the city sights or checking out one of the many, budget-friendly events. Annual events include free or low-cost options such as the St. Louis Art Fair (September) or the Soulard Mardi Gras (January-February).

For other costless attractions, consider spending hours in Forest Park’s expansive green space or touring the Anheuser-Busch Brewery, which features a tasting room and even horses.

Sparing for Luxury at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel

Find first-class affordable accommodations at St. Louis Union Station - a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel. The charming landmark hotel resides in a restored railroad terminal and features luxury amenities. Among the opulent, antique decor, guests will find the modern convenience of a fitness room and pool, as well as complimentary Wi-Fi and in-room HDTVs.

Other, similar inexpensive area hotels include the Lumière Place Casino and Hotels and the Crowne Plaza St. Louis - Downtown Hotel.

Central Locations Between N 14th and N 4th Street

Most hotels near downtown St. Louis are walking distance from Busch Stadium & Convention Center, the Gateway Arch, and many other local attractions. Staying between N 14th Street and N 4th street will put you in the middle of the action. It’s easy to venture elsewhere too; at least three MetroLink stations exist within that radius.

Alternative, Historical Digs

Part of the charm of St. Louis is its historical routes. Once the rowing grounds of Lewis and Clark, the city is full of old-world distinctions. If you’re looking for alternative digs, consider one of the local bed & breakfasts or inns.

For one, Napoleon's Retreat Bed and Breakfast, located downtown on Lafayette Avenue, is part of the city’s historical district. Guests can experience the history firsthand by staying in one of the traditionally decorated rooms.

Other affordable alternatives include entire apartments and rooms available via AirBnB, starting as low as $45 dollars per night.

Airport Transport via the MetroLink and More

The major area airport is Lambert–St. Louis International Airport. It’s about an 11-mile drive to downtown St. Louis. Hotels just outside of the downtown center, near Lambert, often offer shuttles to and from the airport. If you’re headed downtown, take the eastbound MetroLink from Terminal 1 right inside the airport.
